Sunglow Motley x Okeetee

jerhart Jun 12, 2006 09:20 PM

Assuming that they arent het for anything (because I dont know if they are) What would I expect in a clutch from a Sunglow Motley x Okeetee Corn? And would a Sunglow Motley x Sunglow Motley give me all Sunglow Motleys? Would the Motley pattern come out looking any better?
Thanks in advance! Josh

sunglow motley x Okeetee --> normals, heterozygous for amelanistic and for motley. I'd expect them to be more brightly colored than most normals, but I wouldn't expect the Okeetee's nice black rims on the dorsal blotches because sunglows are selected for rims as narrow as possible.

All the babies would all be amelanistic motleys. I'd expect most of the babies to be sunglow motleys, but some might not be. Improving the rims on the dorsal blotches is more of a matter for selective breeding than for Mendelian genetics.

>Would the Motley pattern come out looking any better?

Maybe, and maybe not. Improving the motley is in the realm of selective breeding, too.
