Peculiar behavior!?

tfitz23 Jun 12, 2006 10:42 PM

Hi everyone We are new pet owners of a Kenyan Sand Boa. It has been doing really well, however this last 3 weeks, it hasn't wanted to eat! I am getting really worried about it, as my son will fall apart if something happens to it! It's also acting really odd, in that it climbs the sides of the tank trying to get out. It will lodge itself up in the top of the tank trying to find a way out. My son said he read that it is part of maturing. Who knows! We recently bought a Ball Python as well. They are not kept in the same cage. We keep the across the room from eachother. COuld the fact that we got another snake be it? Please tell me reptiles don't get jelous! Sorry I just don't know how to help it! )

A weary pet owner!

Hi name David
There are lot’s of things that can cause this behavior . Starting with the substrate and or the temp. of it or it could be something in the cage or a cleaning product used that the snake is picking up on that it dose not like or is harmful and it just once to get away from . There are so many thing to consider that it would be better to talk to you directly . If you would like to contact me send me a E-mail at dsreptiel@hotmail.com and I will e-mail you my ph.# ok . I’m not claming to know all the answers but I have been raising reptiles for over 37 years and still learning but I know a lot. Good luck with all you do!
