There was nothing wrong with the servers. Probably a router/hub in your region was overloaded with traffic because others might have been down or something.

You sure it wasn't KS? I'm in Kansas and using the site for pretty much the past month was an extreme chore, friends in Oklahoma, Illinois and Florida have all had the same problem. KS was the only site we all had extreme bog down on.

Regardless, thankfully what ever the problem was, it definetely appears to have been rectified.

The areas where a lot of traffic from a large region funnels through on the way to the KS servers - there could have been a problem there causing traffic to reroute elsewhere where eventually the load on those other areas increase causing bottlenecks. The techs say our servers are fine. The problem apparently lies somewhere else on the route. Also, there are apparently long standing issues going on with folks who use comcast cable...sad really when I see that dial up runs faster and more reliably than comcast cable.

That makes sense then. The 2 worst delays were my own (took 10-15 minutes to post an ad regularly) and my friend down in Oklahoma. We use the same service and are both in the same region so would explain similar drag down effects.

I'm in SoCal and have roadrunner cable and experience the same problems. It takes up to 10 minutes for an ad to post after hitting the post button. I usually just hit it and minimize the window then check on it later.

I have been working in networking for pleanty of years and I have never seen a hosting company or teleco/isp company say "yah it seems we are getting lots of complaints, we think there is a problem on our end." They like to pass the buck and say "It must be on your end." Mostly because in most cases you cant prove where the problem is. For the most part the site is really fast, and I havent seen any problems I would lodge a complaint with.... that said I dont post ads anymore, so I dont know what speed it runs at, but the classifieds always seems to run fine. In this case, kingsnake may very well be right, its not THEIR connection, but it may be THEIR isp's connection. A bit on an internet lesson here... When big ISPs connect to each other, the have whats called peer connections... most of the time they run smooth, and this is what we call the internet backbone... but sometimes there are problems with these peer links... most of the time its political junk such as "We are a bigger company now, and you are smaller, and you have to pay for your peer link now" or something along those lines... it creates problems and slows one particular area from connecting to another at any good speeds. Now why does this matter? Well if the ISP kingsnake is using has a peer that is playing games with comcast (not uncommon, most ISPs hate them) then all comcast customers will have problems accessing anything peered to them, and vise-versa. Most of the time its a lose-lose situation for the customers. In the end, sometimes webhosting companies can find a better ISP, sometimes they cant/wont. So perhaps kingsnake just has a cheap ISP... perhaps not. But for now, I would say everything looks good.
