New to Pits...

Hey all. A friend of mine is downsizing his collection, and when I went over to see what he had, I couldn't pass this little guy up. A beautiful Albino SD Gopher!

Any tips, hints or advice? I have him on newspaper at 78-84 degrees in a Rubbermaid tub for now. He will get a 40 gallon breeder with a more naturalistic set up in a few weeks, once he is settled in and out of quarantine.

Here he is:

...and pull the Pine Snake card, didn't you? I've had my eye on an Abino Pine here in town for a while...

And now that I think of it, there's a guy who wants to sell me a breeding trio of Albino Sonorans...

What's next, Bull Snakes?

Seriously, though. I'm gonna concentrate on this little guy first and make sure that he does well for me first. Do my temps sound ok to you guys? I read somewhere (I think on this forum) that Pits don't like it all that hot. True?

Thanks,

...they do seem to prefer it a little cooler, not much....a big cage,is sort of needed anyway,as they are active, diurnal, and get big...so this larger cage can allow fr a nice large thermal gradient.good ventilation is important, partially because they defecate often(high metabloism).
