Last night I fed my red/orange bearded dragon 8 dusted crickets. Now he always pounces on them when I feed him. However he seemed to show no interest in them. I come home at around 2:45 this afternoon, AND THEY'RE STILL THERE!!!! He's(I assume he's a male) bright yellow with a black beard right now. He just looks tired, but when I pick him up he becomes alert. Is something wrong!?! He's also four years old.

Also he's being kept at 85 degrees in his hot end and this is the first time EVER that he went this long without eating when I offer him food.

he is an older dragon, they do slow down on eating as they get older. usually start slowing down a bit about 1 1/2- 2 year my experience. hit diet should be 90% greens 10% insects at that age. also his basking spot *hot spot* should be 100-105, for younger dragons 110-115. his cool side should be about 75 or so. try raising his basking spot, also give him a warm bath too that may help him. add some electrolytes in the bath. you should be able to get a bottle at your local pet shop. if hes not pooping normally he could be constipated. if so then try some romain lettuce, this should NOT be fed as a normal green but when constipated it helps. make sure hes hydrated, mist him 2 times a day. the bath will rehydrate him also.

good luck

Romaine is his usual veggie, along with carrots. Wow. Thanks for telling me. I feel bad now. He goes to the vet today so let's hope for the best.

Not eating one meal of insects isn't a big deal. Aduld dragons shouldn't get much insects anyway, but should be feed a good serving of fresh mixed wholesome greens (ie collards, dandelion greens, etc). If he is eating his greens fine, no biggy at all if he decides not to eat insects for that day or even a few days. Sometimes they do get tired of having the same kind of insects day in and day out. Try a few silkworms, superworms, butterworms, hornworms, roaches etc, instead of crickets.
