Licking Rock?

psgamer18 Jun 13, 2006 02:48 PM

Hey guys.
I have had my new Leopard Gecko for just over a week now and he's been doing great. He is active and knows when food is about to come and is eager to chomp on the crickets/mealworms. There is one thing about him though that i haven't heard anywhere else. He licks the rocks that are in his enclosure. These are rocks that ive found near a pond. After which i scrubbed, washed, scrubbed, and washed again. Is this a sign that i haven't washed it good enough or possible leftover soap on the rocks? Or does he just really like the taste of rocks? Or even could be one of those things where he is looking for some calcium from the rocks.
Thanks for the reply's.

My leos do alot of licking especially when I put them in a new environment or even when I slightly shift the stuff in their tank during cleaning. It could be an explorative technique.
