Neophyte Ribbon Snake Diet

Dr1Driver Jun 13, 2006 02:59 PM

My wife and I live in sc, and are experienced snake owners. We have a BCC and two corn snakes.

We recently adopted two neophyte ribbon snakes. The exact age is unknown, but the heads are less than 1/4" long and 1/8" wide. Total body length is about 6". They appear to be healthy in all respects.

We've had them about 3 weeks, and we're having trouble getting them to eat. We've tried mini-mealworms and red worms. We're concerned that they may starve. Our local reptile vet suggested force-feeding, but their heads are just too small to hold without possible damage to the snake.

HELP! We need ideas, techniques, suggestions, and anything you guys may have to offer.

Please reply to this board and via e-Mail to Dr1Driver@aol.com.

TIA!
Gerald

Thanks Wayne.

Keep in mind the size I quoted in my first post. What size of fish can we expect these little buggers to eat? Can they eat prey larger than their head, like our BCC and corns can?

You can try feeder guppies, they are small enough for them.
