Red Lamp

z3speed4me Jun 13, 2006 05:10 PM

For the last couple days Ive been using a red lamp to heat the tank 24-7... because i dont think my tank was hot enough, yet it seems my JC python doesnt like it

people say they cant see red, but he is not acting like he used to and can definately tell the lamp is on.
at night it used to go all over the tank, now with the red lamp he just sits in one spot all day long almost like its always day time and is confused or something about when night actually is...

should i go back to just using a day lamp on a timer, and doing complete darkness with no lamp at all during the night again?

is sitting under, instead of the actual light that he supposedly can't see.

Correct. Sound like a temperature gun is needed, to check for hotspots and temp ranges. Sometimes a red lamp is just as hot as a regular lamp, depending on the wattage.
