Handling

atomicjade Jun 13, 2006 09:35 PM

Hello everyone, I do not currently own a panther chameleon, but find them extremely interesting and beautiful creatures. I was just wondering, how are they with handleability? I've read from a number of sources they stress too easily with handling, and a few others that some enjoy it. What is your opinion?

Thanks!

Handling should be kept to a minimum. However, Pardalis seem to tolerate handling better than other species. "Tolerate" being the key word.

If you establish a trust relationship with your cham. and he/she is not frightened by you then handling isn't really a thing to stay away from. never grasp your chameleon over its back, just let it climb on to your hand. If the cham doesn't climb on just leave it alone.

Great advice. You'll know if you chameleon does or doesn't want to be held. Some will try to get away from you while others will just show you their big mean teeth.
