Green Algae on occassion?

ice0003 Jun 14, 2006 01:00 PM

Captive: 26" Am. Alligator

I know the rule about Algae around the snout and the blocking of his nostrils, and I have always kept an eye on that and never, ever seen any on him whatsoever.
Recently I have discovered a tiny patch or two growing on his tail, assuming this is from when he is basking and his tail is dangling down into the water.

My question is how should I deal with this? I have read about turtle-keepers using infant toothbrushes to clean any algae off of their carapace and limbs, so i wonder if this is a route I should take, or whether its really not that big of deal, until that is, I see anything around his snout.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance, hope all you guys are doing well.
