I aquired my first snake a month ago, it is a rubber boa. I would highly recomend one if you are just looking for a nice easy to care for snake that is relativly small in size, they max out at around 2'. They are beautiful in their own way but have no markings and come in a range of brown colorations. I have heard they are the most docile snake, and from what I have expirienced they seem like they would be. Mine is a pet and is out about every day. He is rather active, but doesn't jump out of my hands or anything, he just enjoys crawling around. They can live from B.C. Canada down to Southern California and can be found pretty easily in the wild. rubberboas.com has tons of info if you are interested in them.
