Hatchling with Large Yolk Sac Pic

PATMAN Jun 14, 2006 04:49 PM

The last picture is of an eastern that recently hatched with a rather large yolk sac and her sibling hatching behind her. Since this picture was taken a few days ago much of the yolk has been asorbed.

I think this hatchling has some very nice color to it. The picture below shows it just minutes out of the egg and oddly shaped from being cramped inside the egg. It now looks normal.

I snuck in the middle picture of a late night visitor to my yard the other night, raiding my bird feeder of sunflower seeds.

Pat ....Your pics are great! Their color is super for ones so young; and as you state that one with exceptional markings... should be a screamer.

That is a very large yolk sack on the one. He/She may have been closer to a cooler area in your incubating area/ enclosure and has not absorbed as much from the yolk yet. They usually stay in their shells until most of their yolk is absorbed; but some always wanna be first out.

**Like the black furry guy; he seems awfully bold!

I agree, great pics.
That big furry guy though. GEEZE!
Here I was worried about the little grey foxes that hop over the fence at night.
They just look for water, I think I'd be a tad more fearful of that guy!
