Striking at nothing?

SimplyRed Jun 14, 2006 05:58 PM

I have a female who is very aggressive and acts very oddly. When I pull out the bin she will strike the lid and sides, and when I take her out, she will strike randomly, sometimes in my direction but more often away from me, at thin air. There is NOTHING there, no heat, no light, no objects, its wide open empty air in a still room she is getting angry at. Is this my special snake or ........ ? what?

Your description sounds like she might be.

Could be. how would you check for such a thing? Also, no stuck eye caps. she is not a WC as far as I know. shes a big girl, 3 years old. (well, hoping its a female, but I have no idea really)

Personally I think shes just a nasty little **** and enjoys striking. a little brain addled maybe? dropped in the egg LOL

Check for stuck eye caps.

She may be striking just as a "don't mess with me" kinda deal. Doesn't matter if she doesn't hit anything: you know she can strike!

Also, she may be mentally ill.

(when I think about it though, she actually COULD be mentally ill...)

Is she WC?

position themselves and the strike directly at you or your hand, balls are very different in their defensive behavior.

A balls defensive behavior is actually moreso to curl up tightly and strike randomly, suddenly, and with short, unaimed bursts... sometimes it just looks more like a spasm than an actual strike.

This could very well be what you're seeing...

I have a group of balls that get worked up when I go in their cages... most of them strike at me when picking them up, but i've almost never been tagged by them, because of this.. the strike is usually never close enough to my hand or arm, since it wasn't really directed and aimed well... see what I mean?

By no means am I saying balls can't strike straight, or at a specific target, what I described is more of their eradict behavior when scared and/or defensive.

I've also had the rare ball that would strike straight out at me, and so much that they would jump and sort of throw themselves towards me, landing ahead of where they originally were positioned!

Best wishes, Joe Rollo
