Nice little rescue

phwyvern Jun 14, 2006 06:44 PM

Back at the end of april had this little guy dumped on me at work. Kid said he bought the snake back in 2001 from a petstore, but the size and weight of the snake suggests it's less than 2 years old. The snake had a really bad shed stuck on him and was a little bit dehydrated. I spent 3 days soaking and peeling the snake. After being hydrated and downed two fuzzy rats the snake weighed in at 430g. I was told the snake supposedly would only eat live mice, but in a 2 week period he slammed down 7 fuzzy rats (F/T) without so much as blinking an eye. I think the kid really only had the snake a short time and his mother found out and told him to get rid of it. 3rd week the snake he went into shed and this time it was a nice clean shed and he wasn't acting as ravenous as he had those first two weeks.

The photos were taken about a week after he shed ...by this time he's had 10 full meals and looks nicely filled out. Still waiting on a fecal from him to have that tested for parasites.

My 4 year old nephew named him Leafy.

Looking good. Why only fuzzies though? I understand wanting start him slow, but that is a pretty small meal for his size.
