Got more mice (didn't order them)....

-ryan- Jun 14, 2006 08:32 PM

I was going to order some mice/rats from rodentpro.com for my BP steve (as I was asking about a couple days ago), but then I realized that with the amount I wanted, the shipping was too much. I don't have the kind of space I would need to make a good purchase from rodentpro. So I opted to go to one of the local reptile stores and hope that they had something that was the right size, and they did. Some nice adult mice. Steve just finished eating one with ease. I think I'll see what kind of a lump that makes in him, and decide when he's going to need to start eating more than just one a week. It adds up to about the same amount as he was eating of the little mice though.

Anyways, I figure this should be the last mice I buy for him. I bought 50 of them for $50 (an okay price, since there was no shipping involved), and I figure those should last him until he's large enough to start on some decent rats.

Thanks for all the help you guys. Maybe when he starts on rats it will make more sense to order them online, but right now I just don't have the freezer room for anything more than 50 mice.

Besides, the local shop is getting much better at stocking appropriately sized food. Today in just one freezer there was everything from mice pinks to large chickens/large rabbits, and I mean everything.

Since I also need small orders, I've decided to go to reptile shows in my area for rodents. Last time I went to a show, I paid $20 for 20 medium rats (most were small rats actually...) BUT THE PRICE WAS RIGHT!

No shipping charge, you see the rats/mice before you buy them, and you can look at lots of other cool things at the show too.

(I've bought from both rodentpro and cajun mice, and cajun mice was 20 times better. With cajun mice, I get vaccum sealed packages, on trays, all white and lined up, NO feces, all the correct size. With rodentpro, I get a bag of partly chewed up rats, feces everywhere, and smaller rats. It's worth the shipping price IMO.)

Sorry about the long post.

Good luck!
