mystic uvb lights

derrdiggs Jun 15, 2006 01:17 AM

Has anyone used or is anyone using the mystic tube lights? I have been reading that the uvb output compares to the mercury vapor lights. They sound very interesting and since the sb mercury lights do not last so long it may be a good option. If anyone uses them how long do you leave them on during the day. I understand that some people have concerns over injured eyes in their reps from them
Thanks
Derrick

I hope I don't incur the wrath of the UVB experts but its been my expierence (over 24 years with redfoots) that UVB is not that important. If you observe them especially when they are young they spend a lot of time in their hide. Then when they are older they spend a lot of time under vegatation when outdoors. Mine are most active at dusk. My indoor setup has lights out by 9pm and yet I found one of my redfoots in their water dish in the dark at 11pm? Happy as can be sitting there. By contrast my leopards are active all day and once asleep at dusk I have never found that they move. Tom
