i have a hatchling that i obtained, and have had for about 3weeks now, hes in prefect health from what i see. the only thing is, he does not touch his greens at all, he will go in the bowl and poop on them thats it. he eats crickets like there no tomorrow, hes nice and plump. should i be concerned about him not eating greens, i know juvis dont eat many anyways but none at all is wierd.
thanks

he should start to eat them soon. make sure they are fresh and clean them before giving them to the beardie. also try putting some crickets over the greens so when he goes after a cricket he gets some greens too.

if you are feeding romaine lettuce, stop. kale, turnip greens, mustard greens, are green u should be feeding, along with others.

i had a similar problem. one of my new hatchlings would only eat crickets. I dropped a few meal worms on the veg one day to try and encourage her (i read that this helps as the wriggling worms move the beg and interest the BD). WOW!!!! now she eats veggies, meal worms and practically anything else!! i dropped a worm ont he veg. she immediately ate it and caught some veggies at the same time. now she eats veggies for fun!!

There are lots of good nutrients in romaine lettuce as well as moisture...so there is nothing wrong with it being PART of the beardies diet. One cup of Romaine lettuce has 8 calories, 0.58 gram protein, 1.0 gram fiber, 16 mg CALCIUM and 1637 mcg BETA CAROTENE...and lots of other nutrients.

My (10 year old ) beardies always get greens (dandelion greens, collards, kale, endive, romaine, parsley, etc.) veggies (carrots, sweet red peppers, sweet potato, squash, zucchini, etc.) and a little fruit (apple, pear, berries, melon, etc.) in addition to insects.

romaine is ok for occasional feeding, but not the greatest in nutritional value, plus is causes diarea. good to use for when they are constipated. same with iceberg, iceberg is basically worthless
