Catching baby crocodilians in the wild?

BryanD Jun 15, 2006 02:48 PM

Hi all,

I'm not a regular on this particular forum, but I was wondering if I could get some advice.

I'm going to the Peruvian Amazon in August and I'd really like to try my hand at catching a few baby caimen in the smaller tibutaries that we'll be exploring by boat.

I was thinking about buying a collapsable fishing net, would that be too flimsy?

Do you guys have any other ideas/suggestions?

Thanks :O)

I guess I could make one since the ones commercially sold are typically for larger animals?

Honestly for smaller animals you'll have better chance of success with a net. They are also less stressful in a general sense on the animal. Just get one made out of a good mesh.
