adopting a 3-4 yr. old ig soon....

HerpGirl Aug 01, 2003 08:22 AM

i already have a juvie ig and several other herps that i am keeping/ breeding...anyway... my mom works with some1 who's sister has an ig they dont want (wonderful *sarcasm). well she got it for her daughter who decided a year ago that she doesnt want it anymore. so for the past year her mom has been feeding it for her...notice i didnt say handling. well, my mom told the guy that i could/ would take it for him. so i dont know much about it except this...
it hasnt been handled for a year
it is 3-4 years old
and they are keeping it in an aquarium.
sigh... i dont know what they are feeding it, if its male or female, how big it is(im guessing his stv is about 13.5 inches or so), what size tank it is in or (here comes the big question) if it has lights or not...im guessing not but i dont know. i just hope im not going to get a big mean ig with mbd. so i was supposed to get it like 2 weeks ago but the woman is never home so we cant seem to get a hold of her. i will most likely be getting it next weekend tho(not august 2 and 3). i have a wire cage for it...not sure on dimensions. jeese... this isnt typical senario is it?!
well, at least when it gets to me it will be better taken care of. right foods, lighting, caging, and yes handling. sigh i guess im gonna have to break out my moms leather gloves again! (ewwww...im vegan i still cant get over the whole leather thing!!) does any one have any suggestions for when i get the new baby?!(well, probably monster.)
thanks

Good luck Sara! And let us all know how things turn out It's going to be a very lucky iguana once you're taking care of it!
