I keep many of my torts outside during the summer months. I only feed them greens, carrots, squash, clover etc. outside. If I feed them fruit or anything that would attract ants I feed them inside. I keep large water dishes in each enclosure.
I don't really seem to have a bad ant problem, but they do get in and around the pens. Someone suggested I plant mint leaves around the pens to repel the ants. Yes I don't to seem to have as many ants as I have the past years & the torts do not eat the mint. But I do still get ants in the pens occasionally. Someone else suggested used coffee grounds sprinkled on the very outside of the pens & I have yet to try that.
I am hoping someone out there knows of a good remedy to help repel the ants away from the pens & not harm the torts. Any info would be very helpful.Thank you!
