Gold Dust Days

mrs0508 Aug 01, 2003 08:49 AM

With my 75 gal finally set up and done, I received my pair of Gold Dusts earlier this week. They were very shy at first but they're starting to explore their new surroundings and seem to be liking it.

My question right now is, how often do they shed? My females colors looked funny late yesterday afternoon, at first I thought maybe it was because she was still stressed a bit, then I realized as we were leaving for dinner that maybe she was getting ready to shed. I was right, while we were gone (an hour tops) she had completely shed. I knew that because the tail portion of the shed was laying on the bottom of the tank and her colors were brighter.

thanks in advance for any and all replys!

That can depend a lot on their environment (temp, humidity), but generally, they shed about once a month.

You often wont know because they tend to eat their shed for extra calcium. Looks funny when you do see it though they struggle for like 30 minutes sometimes.
