With all the discussion of melamine cages lately I figured I could post some pics of an example of a cage built with simple tools a circular saw a drill and a dewalt. The cage is small and its butt joints do not fair well in a humid enviroment even after being sealed. However, it is mearly an idea of what can be done. This cage was built utilizing two shelves of melamine bullnose prefinished shelves. I believe 2'x4' was the origional size it was years ago. Believe it or not I still have the cage because it works really good as a step stool.
Anyways the two pieces wer cut down to the size I needed for the example, it never housed any reptile. The back is simple a piece of tileboard slaped on for show. It was never sealed and never had glass track installed, because it was never used.
I hope this helps a few of you out there trying to make do with few tools and a low budget. Feel free to ask questions, hell I would even cut it up to show the joints if it helped. Also since I am in the garage this weekend a lot if anyone wants a pic of any joints I can throw together right quick just ask.
Thanks for looking.
