does anyone else use cypress mulch?

i have used cypress mulch for my arboreal snake for years and it does an awesome job on keeping the humidity up if you keep it damp but for some reason my anacondas dont spend any of their time in their water they like to bury themselves underneath the mulch all you see is their noses poked out its kinda cute

I also discovered that my green likes to burrow. This makes viewing difficult and taking him out sometimes messy. I use coconut fiber and have for years without any issues. I place about a 1" deep layer and pour about 1/2 gallon of warm water. This keeps humidity up easily for days and they won't burrow much. In this set up they use the hide box instead of burrowing. Hey, this ain't Venezuela!! (refering to the mud flats there during the dry season).
Cheers

My female green does the same thing I also use cypress mulch , and she will burrow underneath for a few days when I change out the mulch ,(every other week or so besides spot cleaning).I think the reason she doesn't go into the water bowl to soak so often is because I guess the mulch keeps her moist and you have the right humidity ( shes not drying up in there ) I wouldnt worry about it just change out the water often so no bacteria builds up, and dont buy any Cypress mulch from Louisiana katrina and rita destroyed alot of the echo system in La and alot of disease from the flooding etc came with it> not a good idea It will usually say on the bag where the mulch is from.
