How do I know if bp is constipated?

tamyin Jun 17, 2006 12:30 AM

How often do they poop? She hasn't in the month I've had her. She's around 7 months old and eats well. I've fed her one mouse a week. She seems to pee just fine and leaves the white dropings. I'm wondering if I should be worried.

she probably isnt pooping because shes not eating enough. at that age she should be eating at least a rat crawler or larger 1 maybe even twice a week.

he's roughly the age of yours...maybe a couple months younger, and I noticed that he eats and eats and then finally poops after a long wait.

I tend to think that, as was already said, the bottomless pits we call pets are using so much of the rodents for energy and growth (growth especially, at this age) that there isn't really much left to pass, so it sits in the bowels until more accumulates. that's just a theory though, and probably wrong (or mislead), but I notice that they will eat a lot more than you think they would at this age. I just got mine some new mice (next step is going to be converting to rats), and they are just slightly thicker than the girth of the snake at the widest spot...enough to leave a bump. I gave him one, and he wanted more, but I didn't think it would be in his best interest. Yesterday, just a few days after feeding, I took him out and found that the lump was completely gone already, so I guess he was right for begging for another mouse! Next week I'll have to try two!
