Hello,

I was wondering how do monkey tailed skinks go for right now. I heard that they can not be imported any longer so the prices have skyrocketed. I see one person on kingsnake selling a pair for 2000.00 one is pregnat. That seems alot to me. Please let me know what you think about the cost. Thanks

I made a response to JeanP that goes with this post as well. I guess I'll make the same message here:

In regards to the $2000 PTS pair, I think it is a situation where the seller doesn't really want to sell them, but is willing to let them go for that high price. I commonly encounter this sort of thing with hypo tangerine leopard geckos.

The Viviarium in Berkely CA has one male for 500. That has been what they have been selling their CB babies for the last 2 years. 2000 for a pair does not seem outrageous if they are actually a pair that is compatible and includes a gravid female AND they are healthy (don't believe she is gravid unless proof better than she is fat is offered). I would have to see an animal myself before spending that kind of money, buyer beware.
Gertie and Chip have produced 3 babies in 2 years, and 2 more are on the way. I think they would be worth 2000 if I wanted to sell them. (which I don't)

He said that he would take 1800.00.........because each year he gets a baby and sells it for 600.00......so 600.00 a skink counting the unborn skink makes 1800.00. Sounds like a load of crap to me!!!!
