Weird happening...!

Joeycoco98 Jun 17, 2006 08:49 AM

I woke up this morning to find a shed skin in my corn snake tank. The weird part is that she never showed any signs of a shed approaching. No milky eyes, not milky belly and she never stopped feeding. Has anyone else had this happen to one of their snakes?

Thanks,
Miller

I don't check on each of my snakes every day...So, Yes, that happens to me. Sometimes I am just making a quick check of my snake room and only notice the ones that are "out & about"... Of course, the ones that are going into shed are most often hiding. So if you don't see them for even a day or two, you can miss the "milky" stage and find them when they have cleared up and are ready.

If, on the other hand, you are handling and closely examining your snake every single day...Maybe a little weird. I do find that with my amelanistic ones I still question their condition at times. Not as obvious that they are cloudy. I'm simply not THAT observant ALL the time. Now if I don't see a snake for a few days I just figure it will probably shed soon. Duffy

yea, I been keeping snakes as long as I can remmeber and even when I become laxed in checking on them I still notice when they are about t shed. It was just strange and caught me off guard.

Thanks for the reply.

Not uncommom at all.... I am sure you just missed it. Especially in snows, blizzards, and leucistics... I moved this weekend and had Hope in a sack on my lap in the car (I wasn't driving) when I put her in her tank at the new house there was a shed in the sack.

Thanks, I am not worried I've been keeping snakes a long time. This time it just seemed a bit different. Oh well, off to feed the crew.
