What is he?

After doing a ton of reading and research, I decided about 6 months ago that I wanted to get a black blood. A month ago, I was at a breeder show and there was only one blood python. I asked what type it was and was told Sumatran black blood.

PERFECT! I thought...

Well, he was about to shed at that point so his colors were very dull. A week after being home, he shed for the first time and now he sure looks like a Borneo to me, but then he's my first blood.

What do you all think? It won't be the end of the world, and I'll still be happy to have him, just a little bit dissapointed.

Curtus vs. Breitensteini can be differentiated by adult color to some degree but more precisely by evaluating the scales adjacent to the top of the eye. P. curtus has three scales in direct contact with the top of the eye however P. breitensteini has only one with the two scales contacting more on the sides of the eye. I looked as good as I can and it looks like you have P. curtus from the photo.

Check out the following article for clarification on the separate species of stp's
