Shed questions

cjhaus Jun 17, 2006 10:32 AM

My son's baby Kingsnake has been opaque with blue eyes and inactive since Monday. How long does it usually take before the actual shed? We were begining to get worried so, I researched the forums to see what to do. I placed some wet paper towels in a cup in her cage and covered the screen lid most of the way. (She has a fairly large cage). She has a large water/soak bowl already, but I haven't seen her use it. We live in Mississippi, so its already fairly humid in the house. She ate quite well on Tuesday. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!!

No reason to panic.

It can take anywhere from 4-5 days to 2 weeks before she finally molts.

They usually will go into solitary confinement during this process, so you'll see very little of them. They will tend to hide themselves very well, and the only thing I make sure of with mine is that they're actually still in their enclosures, and didn't escape!

Be patient, and don't worry- sounds like you've got all the bases covered!
