What is this snake. I have looked online and tried several "snake classification wizard" type pages but I cant seem to get this exact snake. Any help would be appreciated.

It is defenitely some kind of juvenile racer. A location where he was found would help you find out exactly what subspecies.

Thanks for the reply. I found this snake in front of my garage. It may have been in the bushes next to the house and I flushed it out while i was running the weedeater. You think it is a racer? Do they vary in color, size etc. I have seen pics of racers, but not one that looks like this one. Actually, I haven't found any pic anywhere that looks like that snake!

When I said location I meant what part of the country. Here is just a quick google search you could check out.

Not sure how to get it to show up as a clickable link so just copy and paste it in your browser.
Good Luck, Tom

All juvenile racers look like that. The pattern fades as they age. Here's a hatchling Southern Black Racer from Florida
