Humdity problems ... HELP!!

TasiaMay Aug 01, 2003 10:08 AM

I have a 70 gallon all glass, side opening, screen topped reptile cage by Perfecto. I have cocconut chunks as substrate, plenty of wood for climbing, fake plants, moist hide, food bowl (one for CGD, one for crickets) and a water bowl. The cage temperature varies from 75 at night to 78 in the day. I have two fifteen watt moon glo black lights for night viewing. No matter how much I mist, I can't get the humidity over 67-68 degrees. Will this hurt my cresties, especially during shedding? I was thinking of getting the Habba Mist misting machine. Is this necessary?

I don't have anything in the tank yet ... wanted to make sure temps and humidity were okay before I put anything in there. I was thinking of eventually putting 2-3 adult females and 1 adult male (or just 3 females) in there. Would this be enough room for everyone?

Thanks so much for helping out a beginner!!! All advice is much appreciated!!!!

TasiaMay,
I personally like to house all my animals individually, but you will have plenty of room in a cage that size. Your humidity is just fine; there are usually no problems with ambient. If you notice your geckos having trouble with shedding, which I doubt they will, just spray a little more. Or you can always add live plants which will help increase it too. Best of luck.
