Pheonix Worms

melgrj7 Jun 17, 2006 02:16 PM

I purchase 100 large pheonix worms and Mikey loves them! The only other thing I see him get so excited about when it comes to food is pinkie mice. So if anyone here is looking to add some variety I would suggest these. I got mine from wormman.com He even ate them with vitamin powder on them (he normally will not eat anything with vitamin powder on it except strawberries and pinkie mice).

I have been looking at those, but had questions. How long do they keep before morphing? I have also wondered if they were highly addictive to turtles, would I ever get them to eat there other food items again!

i feed them to my little akamai since they are supposed to be naturally high in calcium and its difficult to get dust to stick to mealworms.. he (or she) LOVES them... they are supposed to have a six month shelf life if they are kept cool but i always end up feeding them to the baby much more rapidly than that..

6 monthes is a very good shelf life. What did you feed them?

Well I placed an order last night. They should be here by Thursday. They are the medium size. I'll let you know how it goes!

I haven't kept them long enough to have morph. I go through 100 in a week or so as I also feed them to my 5 leopard geckos as well as Mikey (ornate boxie). Mikey still eats pretty much anything, he is a fairly easy going guy.

How big are these?

melgrj7 Jun 20, 2006 08:35 PM

The larges are slightly smaller in length than mealworms but a bit fatter.

They are that large? WOW I thought I'd heard that they were smaller than that.
That does it, I'm going to order some too. If Mikey likes them chances are high my ornates will too.

my little easterns love these. they come in a couple different sizes. the last pretty well and you don't need to feed them anything. just add a few drops of water when their "bedding" gets dry. the turtles eat them long before they morph into anything. you can also check out www.phoenixworm.com
