Where have all the THl's gone.....?

reptoman Jun 17, 2006 04:29 PM

Went out to Western Uvalde County, walked over at leat 50 ant piles and never saw scat or prescence of a horned lizard. We had our hopes of seeing a Texas Horned Lizard, but nothing--I think our dry spell has affected there activity...........We did see a Berlanders Tortise and a Earless Lizard.....:0)

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with THL's Repto! Out in California the CHL's in my area are moving like crazy! I can pretty much guarantee at least one per outing in 2 of my spots. Keep trying, ...they have to start turning up sooner or later!

Jeff and I made a two day trip down to S. E. AZ a month or so ago and saw none. I went back a couple weeks later, after they had a week of showers and saw 8 in one evening. It's mating time now, so they should start to move.
The dry weather is keeping most of the ants down here, but I am still seeing a few solare here and there.
I can't wait for the monsoons!

Some moderate rain showers today in Wichita Falls area, but not enough. First drop in nearly 2 months. Went herping this evening afterward. 2 Fence lizards, and harvester ants abound with a colony about every 20 yards or closer. Several hundred colonies in my primary search area. Caught 5 Pogo queens, missed 4 more. Still no THLs....
