first clutch HELP

jrandall Jun 17, 2006 07:44 PM

OK guys this is my first clutch. She's layed 10 and I think there are 2-3 still in her. Its been about 3 hours since her last egg. How long do wait before I worry about the others not getting laid? I also noticed that the eggs kinda turn as they hit the spagnum coming out. Do I turn it back to the way it was when it was exiting or just quit worrying about every little thing? Thanks Ole' wise ones. jrandall

12/13 is a nice sized clutch, congrats!

Just leave her alone and she will pass the rest of the clutch somtime tonight.. I have found that the more you disturb a laying mom the longer she takes to pass the clutch..

As far as turning the eggs... just set them in the vermiculite in your incubation box as close to how you find them in the morning and everything will be fine..

The rule i always go by with snakes is LEAVE IT ALONE... althouigh somtimes it is very tough to do.. Over the years it has proved that in most situations it is the best way to go..

thanks Mike. I've been pulling the eggs out every 3 or so. I'll leave her alone from here on out. Thanks so much! John

Looks good from here, I wouldn't turn 'em. She may finish later, 10's a good sized clutch, she may be takin' a breather. I would start worrying after 24 hrs. and try a soft massage or let her swim a bit. My .02.

nothing as of 24 hours later. I'm pretty sure it's an egg. I massaged...she swam. Now sh's just laying around. Is there a bulg left over after birth? About 2/3 from the nose to the vent. hmmmmm Ya'lls guess is better than mine. Keep the advise coming I'm reading. thanks guys
