Leaving Iguanas in the Rain

colorfulcritters Jun 17, 2006 09:14 PM

Is rain detrimental to iguanas, meaning, do they need shelter when it rains?

I've got mine outside to give it some sun, but today it rained and I didn't cover his metal cage. I wonder if it hurts him.

Do you all put in protection for your iguanas, ie., some kind of large leafed plant or tree bark or something, when you put them outside, just in case it rains? I've got shade in mine, and don't keep it in the full sun, but nothing for him to hide under fully.

Once again, Joe, no thanks.

...were you referring to me?
"No thanks" ...for what? hmmm

Anyways, yes, they need shelter, rain cools them, too much, and like most animals, iguanas will shelter from the rain. A few posts below, there's "Outdoor Caging" where I give reasons to why a cover should be put on an outdoor enclosure.
