beginer speices

findaratot Jun 17, 2006 09:38 PM

Hi, I am looking for a speices of frog that would be very easy to care for. I'd like to be able to feed it mostly on frog pellets and frozen food and I also would want to keep it in a half land half water type of tank. I've never heard of a species that fits with this so i thought i'd ask. I've seen those dwarf clawed frogs, but they need to be kept in an all water tank right?

Sorry to tell you, frozen foods and frog pellets aren't the best food nutrian(sp) wise. Live food dusted with calcium is the best.

But a frog that would fit into your liked setup would be a Fire-bellied toad.

Hey, if you want info on fire bellied toads, you can drop me a line, I've been raising them for a few years in a plaudarium (half land/ half water thing) and have even successfully raised tadpoles and such. They are gret little pets, really cute little guys, and they do well with a planted vivarium- the plants keep things clean and healthy for the toads. They only eat live food though, and I think that's true of most frogs. Their food is easy enough to get and keep though. Let me knwo it you need a hand
