I am building a cage for my desert monitors and the only thing lows has is birch. Is this ok to build a cage out of. a quick reply is needed b/c I am going out of town tomorrow.

I think Baltic Birch ply is some of the best to build a cage out of. I never worked with any Desert Monitors, or any monitors in particular. I would thinkas long as the joints were solid and the inside surface sealed appropriatly you could make a cage out of anything. I myself have built quite a few enclosures that might work well in your situation. Just let me know.

Thanks for the info it helps a lot. I already got the stuff for the cage, but I was making sure it use ok to use. but how big and how much $ are your cages?

I am currently building 2 large cages both 66" wide 96" deep and 80" tall. So far on materials I have spent (don't tell the wife) $649.76
Mind you that is still raw materials and not all of them still have to get the electric stuff not to mention the glass and solid wood fronts.
They are colapsable insulated cages that can really go anywhere in almost any room. I design for the future, LOL.
