frilled dragon eye problem...

toxicogenic Jun 18, 2006 02:30 PM

i posted a message a few days ago about my frilled dragon. there seems to be something wrong with his eyes now. i read an old post that someone wrote about their frillie making its eyes bulge out..that same thing is happening to mine. i noticed he was shedding from his little eyes and eyelids so i helped him out and he actually stopped making his eye bulge out. but today i noticed he didnt want to eat and is just laying there. i took him out and noticed something that looks like dry shed sticking out from his eye. so i took a tiny piece out with tweezers but he still has something left in there...looks like something dried up. i dont know but im taking him to the vet ASAP. i just was curious as to what happened to the other guy with the same problem. any suggestions or help would be great...thanks.

Frilled dragons should be misted with warm water at least 1X/day (or you can give a 20-30 min warm shower)for hydration purposes. Unless there are signs of an eye infection (crusting or oozing) or foreign particulate matter in the eye causing lid closure, then it would a good idea to take the dragon to a reptile vet.

i do mist him everyday..twice a day. i just got back from the vet. he removed some stuff he had which seemed to have been dry shed. he did a fecal and it came out negative. he also gave him some fluids subdermally to give him a little boost. he already looks better and he's opening his eyes now. he looks like hes gonna be fine. thanks for the help.
