Starter tank

ZEKyle Jun 18, 2006 06:11 PM

Just curious how long would a 60 gallon reptile tank last for a hatchling blood for? What size tank would you need for an adult or adult(s)? I am thinking about getting a pair. What type of substrate are most people using on here for them?

Thanks

I wouldnt recommend a 60 gallon for a pair of young bloods.Young blood pythons feel much more secure in smaller enclosures.if you put little bloods in a large tank they will be more aggressive and they might go off feed.I dont know if this is how it is for everyone, maybe only my experience.theres my two cents.

Hey Kyle-
I agree with Matt...a sixty gallon tank would make a poor enclosure for a young blood python. You'd be better off using tubs (ie: Rubbermaid)of approrpriate size(s) until you settle on a more permanent cage for adults (Boaphile, Vision, etc). Floor space is more important than height...adults can be kept in 2'x4' cages. Check out care sheets (NERD, VPI).

newspaper works as well as anything for substrate material.
