outdoor enclosure...

mindlessvw Jun 19, 2006 11:05 AM

I am in the process of building an outdoor enclosure for my beardie...He will only be out there when I am home and can watch him. i don't want something like ants to get to him when i am not there. I live in south Texas so i can't think it would be too chilly for him. My question is what type of screening should i use? I have some window screening that i had used for aanother cage lid i built but i don't want him to get his nails or anything cought. He will have a wooden base so he won't be on the screen unless he climbs the side(which we wll know they do) any suggestions?

I checked in the enclosures and housing forum and it hasn't been active in some time so i would really appreciate the help...

There is a product called Aquamesh, I think that is the name. It is screening covered by a green plastic coating which is very soft on reptile feet. Also, this has a larger gap (something like 3/8" or 1/2" squares) so they do not pull out their nails. We have an outdoor cage primarily for our chameleons that uses this mesh, but I'm sure it would be great for a BD cage also. I didn't build it but I was told that the aquamesh is a little expensive and if I remember correctly, it is used in salt water aquariums most of the time. Hope this helps

Thanks...i appreciate it...i don't want him to get hurt and a litte bit of extra cost won't hurt...it saves vet bills if he hurts himself on the cheaper stuff
