After breeding with the male again she is laying once more. So far has 11 eggs out and looks to have more in her. No slugs this time either.

Congrats Keith! Can't wait to see the offspring. How do you normally get your females to double clutch?

Keith Hillson Jun 19, 2006 02:01 PM

Too be honest Sean this is a first for me. This female is known to double clutch according to Will Still (she is on loan from Will actually). She looked pretty goodf weight wise after laying the first clutch so I kep throwing her in with the male after about 2 weeks after laying. She eventually locked up with him only one time and that all she wrote I guess. The other thing is I fed the hell out of her. Dont know if that mad e a difference but I figured she would need the energy and fat for a 2nd clutch.

Unfortunatly that is one, didnt make it thru the winter and my move. it weird that the two snakes i lost were Goini and they were a small percent of my collection also.
i did learn you really have to monitor hibernating snakes esspecially here in Fl. were temps rise so often in the winter. Still Sad,Chris
