Purchase agreement???

flavor Jun 19, 2006 04:44 PM

Hi all, I wanted to get your thoughts on this. I have drawn up a short purchase agreement that I am thinking of having buyers sign before they receive animals from me.

It basically contains my guarantee, what they can expect from me, and what I will expect from them if any any problems arise.

Breeders, do any of you have buyers sign similar paperwork?

Buyers, would you be opposed to anything like this?

Any comments are appreciated. Sorry if this is a little off topic. I posted this question in the shipping forum as well. I think it may be more appropriate there but I feel like I am more familiar with you all.

Well I know one thing as a buyer. I like a quick no hassle transaction. While I am not oposed to such an aggrement, I would prefer the "sellers terms" to be posted publically for me to peruse and not have to sign paperwork which would add time to the tranaction. If this could be done over the internet through email then that would seem like less of a hassle. No offence but we live in a fast pased world. When I want something, it's usually TODAY kind of thing

Mike,
....I am in this because I enjoy spending time alone with my snakes and I like the challenge of breeding snakes. For me taking care of these animals is in part an escape from the pressures of the world. I actually even enjoy sharing information with other people who are interested in these animals and even reaching out to educate those people who do not know about reptiles. I absolutely hate selling and marketing. It is too much like the stress of dealing with many of the people I deal with in my job. Too many times I post ads here on kingsnake and then have to answer an endless barrage of emails and telephone calls. Time spent exchanging emails and playing telephone tag is not my idea of quality time. I particularly hate telking on the telephone anyway. If you have seen my ads on the kingsnake.com classifieds you know that I am very thorough in the things that I cover. It amazes me when I write all that stuff and people ask questions about the very things that are plainly covered in my ads. If I have a bunch of snakes to sell and do not have time to post individual photos I say so in the ad. It totally amazes me that after exchanging several emails with someone about one of these ads the potential buyer will get huffy or go away because I will not send them individual photos. I try to sell as many snakes as possible in person at the few shows I go to and also wholesale quite a bit to dealers. This gets the most snakes sold with the least amount of time spent dealing with people.
....I think that no matter what you write into your purchase agreement it will just cause more questions and you will have to spend time dealing with the people who cannot or will not take the time to read it. If this thread sounds like I am a grouch it is because I am.
Snakes are great, people suck,
Jeff

Hey Mike, been away for a week and just got back, I'd have to agree with Jeff, it'd be more the buyer would ignore and still ask about, Also like Frank said, woulod complicate/lengthen the sales process AND IMO would scare some buyers away. Might be good though if it did, maybe only scare away onbes who weren't the best buyers.

I've bought dozens of animals and never seen anything like what you are asking about....
