How old is he? What temperature is his basking area at? What are you feeding him?

If its not a husbandry issue, then perhaps he picked up an infection when his tail was nipped...and needs to see a vet?

I feed my guys daily and they are growing like crazy...maybe feed yours more often? Watch his weight, make sure you keep him fit but fed well. I noticed with my chameleon a massive growth spurt when I upgraded him from small to large crickets, he actually grew faster to match the size of his food better. But make sure you don't feed your dragon somthing too big or you'll kill it. No bigger than the distance between the eyes.
