sunshinedragon Jun 19, 2006 08:29 PM

these strange spots just turned up on my iguana this week. do they look like fungus or burns to you? i really didnt think he couls burn himself the way the lights are but i put a gaurd over the heat lights yesterday. i dont have a guard over the florescents but they really dont get that hot, i dont think they could burn him like that. They are weird shapes so im just not sure. Any ideas?

Looking at the dead colorless scales and spikes, look like burn marks to me. Google iguana fungus, or find a book on them. I believe fungi have some sort of coloration, whiteish/reddish. These look grey with dead scales.

Make sure to treat them, you wouldn't want an infection all over the body.

p.s. as always, a Vet will give you a precise diagnosis.
