I am looking for a place to get a small number of crixs at a time. 500 are way to many for one little cham. I remember several posts regarding this in the past.

Any help is always appreciated!

American Cricket Ranch sells them as low as 250ct, but for $9.99 per 250 PLUS shipping, you might as well get 1,000 for $16.99 shipped that LLLReptile has.... LLLRep sells them in 250 count for $13.99 shipped. I would find a buddy to split the order with or buy more chameleons. Isn't this cute?

Kris,

Premium crickets has a "contract" cricket offer. A total of 6 deliveries (either every week or every other) and you can order 50- 150 (his site says 50-100, but you can order 150). I have used them exclusively for a year and have been very pleased. They are a small company in GA and when you call you can actually talk to Mike (he answered the phone on a Sunday!) Nice guy, CLEAN crickets, great service. You also have the option of adding a few wax or super worms to each order. I have found 150 every 2 weeks to be sufficient for Darwin, Cyrus and my blotchies (they eat lots of other feeders, too) here's the link

Tyler always sidetracks me......

So this is going to sound real silly, but has anyone heard of Kricket N Critters?? I think she lives in Tacoma, WA. I am thinking of also ordering crickets online and was going to use her, BUT I can't find her website. Does anyone have it?
If I can find it Kris, we may want to use her. That would probably be cheapest for us, since it would only be a one-day mail trip. Let me know what you decide and I'll keep you posted what I want to do. I need enough to feed 5 hungry gecko's who are protesting silkworms, 1 very hungry all the time bearded dragon, 2 very active little anoles and also some big-cham treats. I never in my life thought I would be ordering Crickets. I hope my pets realize the sacrafice that I am making for them .

p.s. I also set up a 20 gallon tank for my new "cricket home" and I've seen a GREAT improvement in my die-off rate. (ewwww, I can't believe I'm happy about that!)

Yeah....the shipping from Georgia might be a little rough. Lets track her down! My pet store gets them from American Cricket...but the mark up, yikes. $1.00 a dozen if I buy at least 4 doz.

Let me know about your crix tank. I have a ten gallon tank that is not in use (poor Kumar). Right now I just use two little crix keepers and switch them back and forth when one is dirty.

I have heard of roaches....but honestly...it took me 1 and 1/2 years to even be able to touch the crickets!!!! To many years as a paramedic in nasty, roach infested houses....my skin crawls just thinking of it!

Ya, I was looking at shipping prices too.. Plus transit time and the likely hood of some boxes getting smashed up...

My set up is pretty simple. I glued some egg crates together, I use disposable little cups so I just toss them, no cleaning bowls, and I keep small pieces of egg crate close to food so they can hide and eat and be comfortable ( I still can't believe I'm worried about this!!) Also I makes it easier to get them out, just pull out a small piece and tap it into the cup. Believe it or not, I do not have a lid on there and have not had any problems with escapies... I will be getting a lid when I keep larger quantities though!
Roaches were pretty cool. I didn't mind having them, but my boyfriend did. They were pretty sweet and nice once you get to know them. I had a breeding colony but had to rehome them.

Anyways.. I was hoping to get to portland this last weekend for the show, but I missed it. Work in my area is busy, so I won't be going to portland to "help" out anytime soon. BUT are you coming to the show here in puyallup in Oct.?? You have to come!! We can hang out for a day!!

Here are some pics of my set up. Pretty simple. I use food from Cricketfood.com and the green things are gut load made by Total Bites, I love it! I smells like green apples and the crickets love it too and I don't have to use a knife to cut and veggies!! Major bonus!

not to butt in, but having roaches is pretty awesome. constant reproduction, and i haven't had a single one die off(well, not counting ones that have been turned into food!(thanks feeniee!))

feeniee Jun 21, 2006 01:53 AM

I hope they are making you many babies!! Did you name the girl with the bent wing? She was so sweet. Soo are they hard to breed,, easy, how often do they have babies... fill me in, since I never got that far.. LOL

The kids are doing great! Breeding is so easy, since you don't have to do anything. just let them do their thing. It's pretty easy to tell male from female as well, males have longer wings than females. I'm almost to a second generation of adults, but I haven't kept them at high temperatures all the time because I've heard once you get them going it's hard to stop. I don't remember where i heard about it, but I remember hearding of a roach breeder who had so many he had to remove some each day by the bucketfull. Thats a lot of roaches! The girl hasn't been named yet, but she's about to get a tank all by herself, cause I like her so much.

feeniee Jun 21, 2006 04:44 PM

She was so sweet. And there was another female who just loved to pick on her I was hoping she would molt again and her wing would get fixed... Maybe we should name her Nemo?

she hasn't molted again, so no improvement on the wing, but nemo is a great name for her! nemo will soon be living in her own tank!

feeniee Jun 21, 2006 10:59 AM

here ya go. It's pretty cool. Bigger than all the Oregon ones. It's in puyallup, so you won't have to drive all the way to Seattle!!
