'ID'ing the morphs, part 2, Yellowbelly

steve_harrison Jun 19, 2006 11:10 PM

Hey,

Ok yellowbelly experts, it's my understanding that yellowbellies:

1. Have blushing
2. Have a light spot on their head
3. Have flames
4. Have yellow wrapping around on the belly
5. Have a series of dark scales on the belly

I've gone "snowblind" looking over a recent import and need some opinions on these guys. Are they yellowbellies and if not, what is the "giveaway" on those where you can almost always tell?

Thanks,

Steve Harrison

I do NOT see any yellow bellies in your photo's. But one or two of them are kool looking. If they are female's raise them and get a REAL yellow belly and breed them to it. Here are a few GOOD photo's of a true yellow belly. This in a proven line - meaning it does re-produce itself but I have not had it long enough to make Ivory's YET. Hope this helps. Thanks DAVID

Hey,

The thing I noticed about your pics was there was actual yellow on the belly scales. Do they all have this trait?

Thanks for the help!

To me the defining characteristic of the really obvious yellow bellies is the broken up and piled up dark along the edges of the belly. One of the example pics showed one where only the middle belly scale was free of black but at least the black at the edges of that scale was broken up into small pieces and all lined up at the edge. Often the black is pushed out farther, even out off of all three belly scales but at any rate it needs to be broken up and piled in a line. With yours the black is scattered around and still in big pieces.
