What exactly do I have to do to disenfect logs or branches that i want to introduce into my snakes' cages? I heard soaking it or putting in the oven for a while work. Anybody know anything about it?

the oven or boiling water
What if they're too big? I just got some that I want to use in an arboreal snake set up. Can I just leave them in the AZ sun for a couple of weeks?

Disinfecting, as such, is not really the issue. The problem is branches tend to have things like wood-boring beetles, ants or termites in them that you don't really want to be bringing in the house. At the very least they may end up chewing up the branch after a while.
I don't know whether baking in the sun will do it. Maybe someone else knows.

Not as good as an oven, but a car parked in the sun would likely get hot enough to kill any insect pest.

LOL. They've been in the trunk of my (midnight blue)car for almost two weeks now. It's been averaging probably 105 degrees this whole time. That should probably do it, don't you think?

I was actually thinking about the interior of the car which gets significantly hotter than the trunk.
deg
True, but it's still pretty hot in there.

I don't know if this would work for you but i spray mine down with bug spray and leave it in my trunk for about a week and then wash it off and i've never had a bug problem and believe me my logs are INFESTED with bugs when we first get them. I had a few smaller ones that i put in the oven and it stunk my house up-i dont know how anyone else can stand that smell- and it drove my dogs nuts. I've also heard vinagar in a spray bottle will do it, as well as bleach/water in a spray bottle. anyway i do it, mine get rinsed off and set ontop of my car in the sun to dry for a little while and then they go straight in the cage.

I've heard that spraying the logs with Provent-a-Mite will take care of any pests. The can does say to remove any pet arachnids, insects, etc. from the room when you spray it, so it must be effective against most insects, not just mites.
