Hello all.
In about a month i will get my first bloods, and i`m very exited. I was just wondering if i can have them in the same room as my caimans (not same enclosure). The humidity is around 80-90%
What do you think?
Thanks a lot
Jonas

Yes the whole room is 80-90%
I have some big Caimans, and they have about 5000 liters of water. That makes the whole room pretty humid.
So do you think it would be ok for the brongersmai?
I was planning on keeping them on newspaper, for easy cleaning.
Thanks
Jonas
Hey Jonas-
There is divergent thought on the desirable humidity level for blood pythons. People who do very well with them have very different ideas on whats best in this regard. But I suppose thats not unusual; when given the same set of circumstances, intelligent people will often come to different conclusions. That a lot of different statigies work, probably speaks to the adaptability of the species.
I have tried low humidity (easy in SoCal) with long soaks every other day. That worked ok, but when I noted an increase in R.I.-like symptoms(sniffles, snorting, etc), I upped the humidity (75-80%)at the suggestion of others on this forum. My experience has been positive in that the R.I.-like symptoms have gone.
You'll have to sort it out for your collection. I do remember Robyn at Pro Exotics describing conditions like yours at their facility in Colorado. You might contact him, he is very helpful.
