Pick up a book on the history of the Big Bend region and see where about 100 years ago it was anything from Candelilla wax to livestock to drugs and peoples. One can even go back farther and see exodus of several cultures going north across the Rio. The very fact that it IS so desolated on the Mexico side makes a entry of terrorist so real.
