What happened????

lissag Jun 20, 2006 02:16 PM

I woke up this morning to find Marv dead. He was very healthy and active.. just yesterday getting his favorite treat wax worms. He had his share of problems.. a gimpy foot and would go off feed occasionally..but he had gained weight and was also very personable. The real sadness is that i had taken a ton of pictures of him and now cannot locate them on any of the computers.. I sure hope they were not erased! He was supposed to get a brand new cage next week with faux rock wall and bolders...

For those who don't know... the majority of my reptiles are adoptions or special "need's" animals and I haven't lost one in almost three years, it is very hard not to fault myself.

Thats very sad, and I'm sure quite disturbing since you never expected it. You never know with these guys whats going on, things can change so quickly.
Guess you will never really know for sure what happened. Atleast he was not lingering in sickness and suffering, he was fine and then gone.

And yes I know what you mean about blaming yourself, think we have all been down that road many times. But it sort of cripples your confidence in keeping and caring for these pretty little lizards if we always feel like that when we lose one.

You take in special needs guys, me too, I don't just have PRETTY ones. So I know how much of yourself goes into giving animals the very best you can possibly give. BUT... things happen just the same.

Hope ya feel better soon

I'm sorry to hear that you lost him, but three years is a pretty good run not to lose any, though. You're obviously doing a great job.
