Breeding Blue Spoted Timors

geckoreptilian Aug 01, 2003 12:43 PM

Im looking for information on how to breed these monitors. I have had them both in the same cage for the last couple months and nothing. I feed them crickets(The crickets are breeding in their cage). Also feeding fuzzies about once a month. The basking light is about 90F and they have dirt and places to hide and dig. Any advice would be great.

Hello Nick,
Yes, these varanids were bred in captivity in 2000 or was it 2001? Ive got the (german) paper in my files, amongst other things on this species...if your interested, feel free to email me about it.

If you wanna breed em, you gotta heat em and feed em!...(a wise man once said ) Your basking spot should be closer to the 130 range and you should be feeding rodents.

Good luck!

Hi Nick,
I would increase your humidity, your temp is fine, as average ambient temp in Indonesia is 87 F...increase humidity (= water moisture in air), and perhaps offer your Roti's a varied diet of small rodents, insects, lizards (if possible)....
Good Luck,
mbayless

What types of lizards have they been known to prey on?
